Some merchants call it an "order confirmation number," some just "order number," but it's the unique identifier used by merchants to distinguish your order from all the others in their system.
Some merchants assign multiple order numbers to account for multiple shipments, in which case you will need to submit a ticket for each individual order if there's no overall order ID and subtotal.
For travel merchants, the order ID is the reservation confirmation number or itinerary number.
